• 6.5 Configuring general remote ports
The three general remote ports provide a method of controlling the router from a
remote device such as a computer. The protocol used by these ports is selected by
the configure port (CP) option.
When Simple or General Protocol options are used, the levels are distinguished by
destination offsets as defined in the table below;

• 6.6 Using PC based editors
Two editors are available. A Windows based editor (which is the subject of a
separate manual) and a text based editor.
Text based editor
Why use the text based editor? Because, in this mode the PC is used in a
straightforward terminal emulation mode. That means you can even use your
personal organizer to configure the router!
An RS232 port is provided for interface to PC based editor. The command formats
used are simple, single line instructions of ASCII type strings.
