• Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
• Repair or disassemble
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
To replace the system-board battery, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Read the safety information that begins in "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on
page 163.
Step 2. Turn off the server (see "Turning off the server" on page 24) and all attached peripheral devices.
Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3. Disconnect all external cables and power cords.
Step 4. Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the cover facing up.
Attention: Do not allow the server to fall over.
Step 5. Remove the left-side cover (see "Removing the left-side cover" on page 187).
Step 6. Remove the air baffle (see "Removing the air baffle" on page 189).
Step 7. Remove the fan assembly (see "Removing the fan assembly" on page 39).
Step 8. Remove the system battery:
1. If there is a rubber cover on the battery holder, use your fingers to lift the battery cover from
the battery connector.
2. Use one finger to tilt the battery horizontally out of its socket, pushing it away from the socket.
Attention: Neither tilt nor push the battery by using excessive force.
3. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket.
