Symptom

hypervisor flash device is not
listed in the expected boot
order, does not appear in the
list of boot devices, or a similar
problem has occurred.

solved.

component is a structural, or FRU part.

Symptom
A cover latch is broken, an
LED is not working, or a similar
problem has occurred.
The server is hung while the
screen is on. Cannot start the
Setup utility by pressing F1.
The server cover was removed
while running and the server
shut off.

Not all drives are recognized
by the DSA hard disk drive
diagnostic test.
The server stops responding
during the hard disk drive
diagnostic test.
Action
1. Make sure that the optional embedded hypervisor flash device is selected on
the boot manager (<F12> Select Boot Device) at startup.
2. Make sure that the embedded hypervisor flash device is seated in the connector
correctly (see "Removing a USB embedded hypervisor flash device" on page
259 and "Replacing a USB embedded hypervisor flash device" on page 260).
3. See the documentation that comes with the optional embedded hypervisor
flash device for setup and configuration information.
4. Make sure that other software works on the server.
Action
If the part is a CRU, replace it. If the part is a FRU, the part must be replaced by
a trained service technician (see "Removing and replacing server components"
on page 185 to determine whether the part is a consumable, structural, or FRU
component).

Replace the server cover and restart the server.
Action
Remove the drive that is indicated by DSA (see "Removing a 3.5-inch hot-swap hard
disk drive" on page 199 or "Removing a 3.5-inch simple-swap hard disk drive" on
page 201); then, run the hard disk drive diagnostic test again (see Appendix C "DSA
diagnostic test results" on page 715). If the remaining drives are recognized, replace
the drive that you removed with a new one.
Remove the drive that is indicated by DSA (see "Removing a 3.5-inch hot-swap hard
disk drive" on page 199 or "Removing a 3.5-inch simple-swap hard disk drive" on
page 201); then, run the hard disk drive diagnostic test again (see Appendix C "DSA
diagnostic test results" on page 715). If the remaining drives are recognized, replace
the drive that you removed with a new one.
