PCU/Development Unit

Before replacing a PCU or development unit

• Before replacing a PCU, set SP3-701 for that PCU to "1" and switch the power OFF. Then replace
the PCU and switch the power ON.
• Replacing the development unit resets the development unit counter and the PCU counter, even if
the PCU was not replaced. So, if you wish to replace only the development unit, and not reset the
PM counter for the PCU, do the following:
1) Set SP3-701-003 (for K), 026 (for C), 049 (for M) or 072 (for Y) to 1, depending on the color
to be replaced.
2) Replace the development unit(s).
3) Turn on the machine power. Developer initialization is done for the replaced units.
4) Do the SP7-622-003(for K), 026 (for C), 049 (for M) or 072 (for Y) to reset the counter for the
development unit manually.(If SP3-701-003, 026, 049 or 072 are set to 1, the development unit
counter will not reset automatically, and the PCU counter will also not reset automatically)
