9. Using VidyoGateway Virtual Edition (VE)
For large memory configurations (64 GB+) ensure that memory access is coalesced from
multiple memory channels, e.g., by enabling bank interleaving in the BIOS
When running multiple virtual Vidyo Servers:
Maintain 15% - 30% of the physical hardware CPU capacity as unreserved when deploying
multiple virtual machines on a physical host
The physical host must use CPUs with at least 2.0GHz in all cases, and in some cases
higher CPU speeds are required (see the CPU resource reservation guidelines in the
following sections for details)
Do not co-locate high availability pairs on the same physical host
The overall CPU utilization should not exceed that of a typical production server, e.g., 70%
utilization; add CPU resources or move one or more VidyoGateway VE machines if host CPU
utilization exceeds the recommended threshold
Leave at least 1 vCPU with 2 GHz and 2 GB of RAM idle for the Hypervisor
Virtual Machine Provisioning Requirements
VidyoGateway version 3.2 or later is available as a single Virtual Edition that dynamically enforces
capacity limits based on the number of vCPU allocated. The following configurations are the only
supported configurations:
VidyoGateway Capacity
1 HD, 2 SD, 4 CIF, or 10 voice
2 HD, 1 FHD, 4 SD, 8 CIF, or 20 voice
2 HD, 1 FHD, 4 SD, 8 CIF, or 20 voice
4 HD, 2 FHD, 9 SD, 15 CIF, or 50 voice
5 HD, 2 FHD, 15 SD, 25 CIF, or 50 voice
To take advantage of the resources available in more powerful servers, multiple Virtual Edition
VidyoGateways may be deployed on the same physical host. VidyoGateways of differing capacity
may be added to the same cluster.
The previous resource reservations assume the use of Gallery View or Active Speaker layouts. If
you plan to use Continuous Presence layout regularly, reserve 20% additional CPU.
