Remove the external snap rings from the jib
boom level cylinder barrel-end pivot pin. Use
a soft metal drift to remove the pin.

Tag, disconnect and plug the jib boom level
cylinder hydraulic hoses from the jib boom
manifold. Cap the fittings on the manifold.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.

Attach an overhead crane or other suitable
device to the jib boom level cylinder for
support.

Carefully remove the jib boom level cylinder
from the machine.
Crushing hazard. The jib boom
level cylinder could become
unbalanced and fall when
removed from the machine if not
properly supported.

How to Remove the Jib Boom
Extension Cylinder
Note: Perform this procedure with the boom in the
stowed position.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.

Remove the platform. Refer to repair
procedure, How to Remove the Platform.

Remove the jib boom lift cylinder. Refer to
repair procedure, How to Remove the Jib
Boom Lift Cylinder.

Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane
to the platform end of the jib boom for support.
Raise the jib boom to a horizontal position
using the overhead crane.
