Hardware Installations and
Upgrades
This chapter provides instructions for removing, installing, and replacing storage system
components in your Intel® Storage System SSR212CC.
Caution: When connecting the Intel® Storage System SSR212CC to a power source, use either the
power cords that shipped with the system, or match the power cord specifications listed
under
"Power Cord" on page
Caution: It is recommended that you fit and check a suitable anti-static wrist and conductive foam
pad and observe all conventional ESD precautions when handling storage system
modules and components. Avoid contact with the backplane components and module
connectors.
Before You Begin
Before working with your storage system, review the important safety information listed
in
Appendix D, "Safety
Tools and Supplies Needed

#10 TORX* screwdriver
•
Phillips* (cross head) screwdriver (#1 bit and #2 bit)
•
Needle-nosed pliers
•
Anti-static wrist strap and conductive foam pad (recommended)
System References
All references to left, right, front, top, and bottom assume the reader is facing the front of
the storage system as it would be positioned for normal operation.
Planning Your Installation
Power down your host computer and all attached peripheral devices before beginning
installation.
If the storage system is used with modules or blanking plates missing for more than a few
minutes, the system can overheat, causing power failure and data loss. Such use may also
invalidate the warranty.
