Opening and closing

Key

Overview of key functions
& WARNING Risk of accident and injury
due to leaving children unattended in the
vehicle
If children are left unattended in the vehicle,
they could, in particular:
open doors, thereby endangering other
R
persons or road users.
get out and be struck by oncoming traf‐
R
fic.
operate vehicle equipment and become
R
trapped, for example.
In addition, the children could also set the
vehicle in motion by, for example:
releasing the parking brake.
R
changing the transmission position.
R
starting the vehicle.
R
Never leave children unattended in the

vehicle.
When leaving the vehicle, always take
#
the key with you and lock the vehicle.
Keep the vehicle key out of the reach of
#
children.
* NOTE Damage to the key caused by
magnetic fields
Keep the key away from strong mag‐

netic fields.

does not light up after
pressing the Ü or s button, the bat‐
tery is weak or possibly discharged. Replace
the battery as soon as possible.

Vehicles with convenience doors: if you
have activated the convenience doors func‐
tion in the multimedia system (
you can open or close the driver's or front
passenger door by pressing the Ü or
s button. Additional information on the
convenience doors (
page 87).

The key locks and unlocks the following compo‐
nents:
doors

socket flap
R
tailgate
R
If the vehicle is not opened within approximately
40 seconds after unlocking, it locks again. Anti-
theft protection is primed again.
