ATTENTION ASSIST
Function of ATTENTION ASSIST with micro‐
sleep detection
% The microsleep detection subfunction is only
available in combination with the driver cam‐
era.
ATTENTION ASSIST assists you on long, monoto‐
nous journeys, e.g. on motorways and trunk
roads. If indicators of fatigue or increasing lap‐
ses in concentration on the part of the driver are
detected, the system suggests taking a break.
ATTENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cannot
always detect fatigue or lapses in concentration
in time. The system is not a substitute for a well-
rested and attentive driver. On long journeys,
take regular breaks in good time that allow for
adequate recuperation.
You can choose between two settings:
Standard: normal system sensitivity.
R
Sensitive: higher system sensitivity. The
R
driver is warned earlier and the attention
level detected by ATTENTION ASSIST is adap‐
ted accordingly.
If drowsiness or increasing lapses in concentra‐
tion are detected, the ATTENTION ASSIST: Take
a break! warning appears in the driver's display.
You can acknowledge the message and take a
break where necessary. If you do not take a
break and ATTENTION ASSIST continues to
detect increasing lapses in concentration, you
will be warned again after a minimum of
15 minutes.
The following information is displayed in the driv‐
er's display:
The length of the journey since the last break

The attention level determined by ATTENTION
R
ASSIST:
The more segments 2

played, the higher the detected attention
level.
Fewer segments 2 are displayed in the

circle as the attention level decreases.
Microsleep detection 1 status:
R
Deactivated: display 1

Activated but not operational: display

is grey.
Activated and operational: display

green.
If ATTENTION ASSIST is unable to calculate the
attention level and cannot issue a warning, the
System suspended message appears.
If the system, which uses the driver camera,
detects indicators of microsleep, the
TION ASSIST Microsleep Take a break!
message appears in the driver's display and a
warning tone sounds simultaneously. This warn‐
ing message must be confirmed by Touch Con‐
trol. It is recommended that you take a break
immediately.
