198 Driving and parking
The system may be impaired or may not function
in the following situations:
If there is poor visibility, e.g. due to insuffi‐
R
cient illumination of the road, highly variable
shade conditions, rain, snow, fog or heavy
spray.
If there is glare, e.g. from oncoming traffic,
R
direct sunlight or reflections.
If the windscreen is dirty in the vicinity of the
R
multifunction camera.
If the multifunction camera is misted up,
R
damaged or obscured.
If road signs are hard to detect, e.g. due to
R
dirt, snow or insufficient lighting, or because
they are obscured.
If the digital road map of the navigation sys‐
R
tem has incorrect or outdated information.
If signs are ambiguous, e.g. road signs in
R
roadworks or in adjacent lanes.
If the radar sensors are dirty or obscured.
R
When you drive on roads with steep uphill or
R
downhill gradients.
If there are narrow vehicles in front, such as
R
bicycles or motorcycles.
Function of the haptic accelerator pedal
The haptic accelerator pedal features an addi‐
tional point of resistance to help you drive as
efficiently as possible in drive program ;.
Range maximisation
Range maximisation function
The range maximisation function enables a maxi‐
mum range gain. To achieve this, the function
partially or completely switches off comfort sys‐
tems that are not relevant to driving and acti‐
vates efficiency-enhancing driving functions.
The range maximisation function controls the
restrictions of the following function groups:
Climate control
R
Restriction of air-conditioning functions
-
and deactivation of front windscreen, rear
windscreen and mirror heaters
Interior
R
Switching off ambient lighting, displays
-
and certain charging functions
Seat comfort
R
Deactivation of the steering wheel heat‐
-
ing, seat heating and ventilation and
deactivation of the massage function
ECO drive functions
R
Changing to the ; drive program, acti‐
-
vation of the ECO Assist and the recuper‐
ation level hÃ
%
The availability of the ; drive program is
equipment-dependent.
If necessary, you can deactivate individual func‐
tion groups and their restrictions again. You then
reduce the maximum range gain by the value
specified for the function group.
If you switch on a deactivated function while
range maximization is activated, all restrictions
of the corresponding function group are
removed and the maximum range gain is
reduced accordingly. For example, if you switch
on the seat heating again, all restrictions of the
"Seating comfort " function group are deactiva‐
