10-8-2 Version Upgrade Functions for V1 or Higher Models

Note

10-8-3 Replacing the Unit

Note
The maximum number of active and standby Controller Link Units that can be
mounted to one network is 62. If all the Units are used in duplex operation, the
maximum number of nodes in the network is 31. For details, refer to Duplex
Specifications on page 203.
For model numbers with suffixes of V1 or higher, earlier models are com-
pletely upwardly compatible with the new models. There are restrictions on
certain functions, however, in systems where earlier and newer models are
used together.

1. For information on checking the unit version, refer to Unit Versions of CS-
series Controller Link Units on page vi.
2. When the CS1W-CLK12-V1 and CS1W-CLK52-V1 are used together, no
more than 1,000 send words per node can be used.
3. Use CX-Integrator Data Link Setting Tool version 3.2.1.1 or higher to set
data link tables with more than 1,000 send words per node.
For information on checking the CX-Integrator Data Link Setting Tool ver-
sion number, refer to Checking the CX-Integrator Data Link Setting Tool
Version on page viii.
Observe the following precautions when replacing the Unit.
• Always turn OFF the power before replacing the Unit.
• Check that the new Unit is not faulty.
• If you suspect that a poor connection is the cause of a malfunction, clean
the connectors using a clean, soft cloth and industrial-grade alcohol.
Remove any lint or threads left from the cloth, and remount the Unit.
• When returning a faulty Unit for repairs, always attach a detailed fault
report to the Unit and return to you nearest OMRON outlet as listed at the
back of this manual.
In order to prevent faulty operation be sure to turn OFF the power to all nodes
before replacing the Unit. In an Optical Ring system, it is possible to replace a
Unit while the system is operating as long as specific conditions are met.
