Commands and Responses for Controller Link Units
Explanation
172
The data for the two modes is returned by "disconnect detect node data 1"
and "disconnect detect node data 2."
Time of beginning disconnection data recording: The time that the record-
ing of the disconnection data was begun is returned in one byte (2 digits) BCD
for each of the following in order: minute, second, day, hour, year, month.
The time at which the last of the following was executed becomes the time for
this parameter: Local node powered up, Controller Link Unit restarted, or dis-
connection data cleared.
The year setting is for the two rightmost digits of the year. The hour setting is
made from 00 to 23.
The time will be returned according to the time data set at the local node.
Number of node/network separations (response): The number of times
that the local node is separated from the network from the "time of beginning
disconnection data recording" onwards is returned in 4 bytes (8 digits) hexa-
decimal.
Number of network disconnections (response): The number of times that
disconnection data is received from the polling node from the "time of begin-
ning disconnection data recording" onwards is returned in 4 bytes (8 digits)
hexadecimal. If the same disconnection data is continuously detected with
each communications cycle, however, it will be regarded as the same discon-
nection and will not increase the count.
Number of local node disconnections (response): The number of times
that disconnection data is detected by the local node from the "time of begin-
ning disconnection data recording" onwards is returned in 4 bytes (8 digits)
hexadecimal. If the same disconnection data is continuously detected with
each communications cycle, however, it will be regarded as the same discon-
nection and will not increase the count.
Maximum number of consecutive disconnect cycles (response): The
maximum number of consecutive cycles in which disconnection data from the
polling node is detected is returned in 4 bytes (8 digits) hexadecimal. (The
number is counted starting from the "time of beginning disconnection data
recording.")
A rough approximation of the time during which data may have been lost can
be obtained by multiplying this value by the maximum communications cycle
time for the Controller Link Network.
Number of frame drop-outs (SL1, SL2) (response): This response indi-
cates the number of times that the data (frame) was correctly received by
another system but could not be received by the local system. (The total from
the "time of beginning disconnection data recording" onwards is returned in 4
bytes (8 digits) hexadecimal.)
Number of frame breaks detected (SL1, SL2) (response): This response
indicates the number of times that the data (frame) was correctly received by
another system but could not be detected at the local system except by car-
rier. (The total from the "time of beginning disconnection data recording"
onwards is returned in 4 bytes (8 digits) hexadecimal.)
Number of CRC errors detected (SL1, SL2) (response): This response
indicates the number of CRC errors and Manchester errors. (The number is
counted from the "time of beginning disconnection data recording" onwards.)
When a Optical Ring Controller Link Unit is used in the token-ring mode, the
disconnect detection and notification function can be used. With this function,
when the Controller Link Unit detects a disconnection, it provides disconnec-
tion data to the polling node. All of the nodes in the network are then notified
from the polling node. For details on the disconnect detection and notification
function, refer to 10-5 Locating and Correcting Cable Disconnections.
