Adding Nodes in Token-ring Mode
Procedure for Adding Nodes
Check the operating
conditions and setting status
of the existing network.
Remove the cable
where the new node
is to be added.
Prepare the nodes
to be added.
Set the Controller
Link settings for the
new nodes.

(1) Number of nodes registered in network and node
addresses
(2) Transmission path format: Token-ring mode
(3) No disconnection in the network.
(4) Data link mode when data links are active/inactive
(5) Ladder program (program that includes the new nodes)
A network line disconnection will be detected by the
Controller Link System, and the Controller Link Unit's RING
indicator will flash.
Make sure that external light does not enter the Optical
Connectors that were removed (on the Controller Link Unit
and the cable end)
(1) Create I/O tables
(2) Transfer user programs, etc.
(1) Set the node address to a number that is not being used
by another node on the network.
(2) Connect the 24-V external power supply cables.
Do not connect the communications cables yet.
(1) Set the polling/polled node setting to Polled.
(2) Set the transmission path format to token-ring mode
(same as the existing network).
Check that the P/S indicator is lit.
The Controller Link System's network disconnection status is cleared.
The RING indicator of the Controller Link Unit in the existing network is lit.
Join the new node to the existing network.
The node is participating in the network normally if the INS and RING
indicators are lit and the ERC and ERH indicators are not lit.
• When data links are active in the existing network, check the following
items before adding nodes to the network. If the inappropriate data link
tables or parameters are set, the system may not operate properly.
