4. Leave the cable disconnected and set the network parameters. See "Re-
setting Network Parameters" below for details.
5. Turn the power OFF and install the network cable connector.
6. Check the connections, turn the power ON to all of the nodes, verify that
the INS indicators are lit, and verify that the network has started operating
normally.
If all of the Controller Link Units in the network are Optical Ring Controller Link
Units (using H-PCF cable), the network can operate in token-ring mode. All of
the nodes in the network must be set to token-ring mode.
1. Replace the Unit and turn the power ON without the optical fiber cable con-
nected.
2. Set the transmission format for the replaced Unit to "token-ring mode" with
bits 8 and 9 of D30000 + (100 × unit number).
3. Turn the power OFF and then ON again and verify that the Controller Link
Unit's RING indicator is lit. (The Unit is set to token-ring mode if the RING
indicator is lit.)
4. Turn the power OFF and install the optical fiber cable connector. Connect
the nodes at the ends of the network to form a ring configuration.
5. Check the connections, turn the power ON to all of the nodes, verify that
the INS indicators are lit, and verify that the network has started operating
normally.
When a CPU Unit has been replaced for a CVM1 or CV-series Controller Link
Unit, it is necessary to reset the network parameters, data link tables, and
routing tables. This sections describes the resetting procedure for the network
parameters. For details on data link table resetting procedures, refer to 5-2
Setting Data Links and for routing table resetting procedures, refer to 7-4 Set-
ting Routing Tables.
1. Network parameters are read from the polling node when the Network is
activated and this information is distributed to all nodes in the Network. For
this reason, temporarily set the replaced node's polled/polling node setting
in the DM parameter area to a "polled node" after replacing the Unit.

2. Turn the power off once, connect the Controller Link Network and turn the
power on again. Check that the Unit is participating in the Network.
If the INS indicator is lit and the ERC and ERH indicators are off, then the
Unit is in the Network.
3. Return the polled node/polling node setting of the node in which the Unit
was replaced to "polling node."
