Emergency tailgate safety release
Type A Type A
Type B Type B
Your vehicle is equipped with the
emergency tailgate safety release lever
located on the bottom of the tailgate.
When someone is inadvertently locked in
the luggage compartment, the tailgate
can be opened.
To unlock and open the tailgate manually
from inside the luggage compartment,
perform the following procedure:
Type A
1. Using a key, etc., push the unlocking
lever in the direction of the arrow to
unlock the tailgate.
2. Push open the tailgate.
Type B
1. Remove the cover by pressing the
handle and flipping it upward. (1)

Move the emergency lock release
lever (2) in the direction of the arrow.
2. Slide it toward (right) to unlock it.
3. Pull the tailgate handle (3) to open it.
WARNING
• For emergencies, be fully aware
of the location of the emergency
tailgate safety release lever in the
vehicle and how to open the tailgate

if you are accidentally locked in the
luggage compartment.
• No one should be allowed to occupy
the luggage compartment of the
vehicle at any time. The luggage
compartment is a very dangerous
location in the event of a crash.
• Use the release lever for
emergencies only. Use with extreme
caution, especially while the vehicle
is in motion.
