Then do one of the following:
Type A
• The tailgate is locked or unlocked
when all doors are locked or unlocked
with the key, transmitter or central
door lock switch (if equipped).
• Only the tailgate is unlocked if
the tailgate unlock button on the
transmitter or smart key is pressed
for approximately 1 second. If all the
doors are locked, once the tailgate is
opened and closed, it is locked again.
• If unlocked, the tailgate can be
opened by pressing the handle switch
and pulling the handle up.
Type B
If unlocked, the tailgate can be opened
by pulling the handle.
1. Pull the handle (1)
2. Open the right side door (2)
3. Pull the right handle (3) and then open
the tailgate.
NOTICE
In cold and wet climates, door lock
and door mechanisms may not work
properly due to freezing conditions.
CAUTION
Make certain that you close the tailgate
before driving your vehicle. Possible
damage may occur to the tailgate gas
lifters and attached hardware if the
tailgate is not closed prior to driving.
Closing the tailgate
Type A Type A

Type A
Lower the tailgate lid and press down
until it locks. To be sure the tailgate lid is
securely fastened, always check by trying
to pull it up again without pressing the
tailgate handle button.
Type B
When closing, operate in the reverse
order of opening the tailgate.
