Automatic protection switching test
Description
This section provides the procedures for verifying the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 shelf
automatic and manual protection switching.
Note the following:
These tests do NOT simulate circuit pack failures.
•
A properly grounded wrist strap must always be worn while handling circuit packs.
•
Prior to performing each test, the shelf under test must be clear of all alarms (that is,
•
only green LEDs are lighted).
MAIN1 VLNC50/52 switch test
Proceed as follows:

There must be cross-connects present to complete this test. Enter VT1.5 cross-connects
using the cross-connect wizard. At the system level view, Configuration ->
Cross-Connection. Then follow the wizard to establish cross-connections to the DS1
ports. See

At the NE system level view, View -> Protection and open by clicking the + sign until you
see the path pertaining to the cross connection that was established above and enter select
at the bottom of the screen.

Disconnect the optical fiber connected to the IN of the port that is the active receiver on the

FAULT LED will flash on the OLIU.
