Chapter 1: Introduction

How to use this documentation

Use this documentation as a guide to install and configure Avaya media servers. For
information about a particular task, use the index or table of contents to locate the page number
where the information is described.
The S8500 Media Server can be configured as a primary controller or as a Local Survivable
Processor (LSP). Most of the installation procedures are the same for these two configurations
but there are some differences. For an S8500 LSP:
Skip the "IPSI translations" and "IPSI configuration" sections
Complete the tasks in the "Install an S8500 as an LSP" section
For an overview of the installation process, see
page 25.

Pre-installation: before going on site
