5. MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
Sensitivity is low.
Extreme interference or
noise.
No depth indication.
Speed and/or water tem-
perature readout is unre-
alistic or not shown.
Position readout is unreal-
istic or not shown.
On-screen display is not
showing correctly after re-
placing the monitor.

Error Messages and Icons

When an error occurs, the system releases an audible alert and displays an error mes-
sage and error icon. Select [OK] on the error message to silence the audible alert. The
error icon is displayed until the cause of the error is rectified.
If an error occurs frequently, contact your local dealer for service.
Note: Error codes displayed in error messages change depending on the nature and
cause of the error.
The table below shows the error messages with their icons, probable cause and rem-
edy.

• Gain setting is too low. Referring to section 1.6, increase the gain.
• Marine life is adhering to transducer face. Clean the transducer face.
• Vessel is in heavily sedimented water.
• Bottom is too soft to return an echo.
• Transducer is located too close to the engine. Relocate the transduc-
er.
• Ground wire has loosened or damaged. Check the wire, and recon-
nect or replace it as necessary.
• Same-frequency echo sounder is operating nearby.
• Bottom is off the screen. Referring to section 1.8, adjust the range
setting.
• Depth indication is hidden. Referring to section 1.15, show the depth
indication.
• [Bottom Level] setting is incorrect. Referring to section 4.7.5, adjust
the setting.
• [Bottom Search] is set to [Off]. Referring to section 4.7.2, change the
setting to [On].
• The sensor cable is disconnected or damaged. Check the cable, and
reconnect or replace it as necessary.
• The sensor is malfunctioning. Check the sensor.
• The cable connected to the navigation equipment is disconnected or
damaged. Check the cable, and reconnect or replace it as neces-
sary.
• The navigation equipment is malfunctioning. Check the navigation
equipment.
A new monitor must be set up from the [Service] menu. Contact your
local dealer.
