HEADLIGHT AIM

An improperly adjusted headlight may blind on-
coming drivers, or it may fail to light the road for a
safe distance.
NOTE:
Adjust headlight beam as specified by local laws
and regulations.
Adjust vertically by turning the vertical adjusting
screw.
Adjust horizontally by turning the horizontal adjust-
ing bolt.
CLUTCH SYSTEM
Inspect the clutch cable for kinks or damage, and
lubricate the cable 1f necessary.
Measure the clutch lever free play at the end of the
lever.
FREE PLAY: 10-20
mm
(3/8-13/16
in)
Minor adjustments are made with the upper adjust-
er at the clutch lever.
Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster.
Tighten the lock nut securely.
CAUTION:
The adjuster may be damaged if it is positioned
too far out, leaving minimal thread engagement.
If the adjuster is threaded out neat its limit and the
correct free play cannot be obtained, turn the adjust-
er all the way in and back out one turn.
Tighten the lock nut and make a major adjustment
as described below.
Major adjustments are made with the lower adjust-
ing nut at the engine.
Remove the right side fairing (page 2-4).
Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting nut.
After adjustment is complete, tighten the lock nut
securely while holding the ::idjusting nut.
Check the clutch operation.
If the free play cannot be obtained, or the clutch
slips during test ride, disassemble and inspect the
clutch (section 9).
