FUEL SYSTEM
Direct Air Induction ID.A.I.) system malfunction (CALIFORNIA type)
Remove the combination meter without discon-
necting the meter connector (page 19-6).
Raise the rear wheel off the ground and support
the motorcycle securely with a hoist or equiva-
lent.
Start the engine, shift the transmission into gear
and measure the voltage between the Pink/yel-
low(+) and Green
(~)terminals
of the meter
connector. I here should be battery voltage when
the speedometer is below 20 km/h (18 mph) and
no battery voltage when the speedometer is
20 km/h (18 mph) or more.

Abnormal

Disconnect the meter connector and measure the
voltage between the Pink/yellow ( +) and Green
( - ) terminals of the meter connector with the
ignition switch ON.

No voltage

Remove the seat cowl (page 2-2).
Disconnect the air vent control solenoid valve 2P
(black) connector and measure the voltage be-
tween the Black/white ( +) terminal at the har-
ness side connector and body ground (-) with
the ignition 5witch ON.

COMBINATION METER CONNECTOR
-Voltage - - . • Faulty combination meter
"--No voltage--• Open circuit in Black/white wire
AIR VENT CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE
2P CONNECTOR
Check for continuity between the Pink/yellow ter- -No continuity--• Open or short circuit in Pink/yellow wire
minals of the combination meter and solenoid
valve connectors.
