Wiring harness between rocker arm cover and
lower plenum.
Bolt-torque reaction rod bracket at cylinder
head/exhaust manifold connection.
Upper two bolts of torque reaction rod bracket at
front of engine.
Tighten lower bolt of torque reaction rod bracket
at front of engine.
Replace bolt connecting cylinder head bracket to
bracket at front of engine.
Bolt-torque reaction rod at cylinder head bracket.
Negative battery cable.

Remove or Disconnect
Negative battery cable.
Both rocker arm covers.
Engine coolant.
Intake hose - throttle body to elbow.
Distributor (mark position of rotor).
Shift linkage.
• Throttle
• Downshift
• Cruise control
Throttle body to upper plenum.
Radiator hose.
Radiator fill inlet.
Inlet and return heater hose and pipe to throttle
body.
Wiring harness.
Heater hoses.
Vacuum hoses.
Brake vacuum booster pipe and bracket.
EGR pipe.
Upper manifold plenum and gaskets.
Intermediate intake manifold and gasket.
Lower intake manifold and gaskets.

• All gasket surfaces on cylinder head and
intake manifolds.
Install or Connect
Lower intake manifold and gasket - torque in
sequence - 26 N-m (19 lb.ft.).
Intermediate intake manifold and gaskets -
torque in sequence - 21 N-m (15 lb.ft.).
Upper manifold plenum and gaskets - torque in
sequence.
EGR pipe.
Brake vacuum booster pipe and bracket.
Vacuum hoses.
Heater hoses.
Wiring harness.
Inlet and return heater hose and pipe to throttle
body.
Radiator fill inlet.
Radiator hose.
Throttle body to upper plenum.
Shift linkage.
• ' Throttle
• Downshift
• Cruise Control
Distributor
Intake hose - throttle body to elbow.
Engine coolant.
Both rocker arm covers
Negative battery cable.
Inspect
• For proper timing
• Coolant level
• For fluid leaks
