• Plenum bolts to 25 N-m (18 lb.ft. )
4. Throttle body bolts.
T i g h t e n
® Throttle body bolts to 17 N-m (12.5 lb.ft. )
5. EGR pipe.
6. Throttle cable bracket bolts.
7. Vacuum lines.
FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY
R e p l a c e m e n t (Figure C2-13 a n d C2-!4)
An eight digit identification number is stamped
on the side of the fuel rail, as shown in Figure 02-13.
Refer to this number if servicing or part replacement
is required.
The names of component parts appear in the
numbered list on the disassembled view (Figure
C2-14) on the following page.
f J i m p o r t a n t
When servicing the fuel rail assembly, be careful
to prevent dirt and other contaminants from
entering the fuel passages. Fittings should be
capped, and holes plugged, during servicing.
At any time the fuel system is opened for service,
the o-ring seals used with related components
should be replaced.

C l e a n i n g a n d I n s p e c t i o n
Before removal, the fuel rail assembly may be
cleaned with a spray type engine cleaner, AC-Deico
X-30A or equivalent, following package instructions.
Do not immerse fuel rails in liquid cleaning solvent,

1. Plenum, (see above procedure).
2. Cold start valve line at fuel rail fitting.
3. Cold start tube o-ring seal and discard.
4. Fuel lines at rail.
5. Fuel inlet and return line o-rings and discard.
6. Vacuum line at pressure regulator.
7. Injector electrical connectors.
8. Rail retaining bolts.
9. Fuel rail assembly.
NOTICE:
Use care In removing the fuel rail
assembly, to prevent damage to the
injector electrical connector terminals and
the injector spray tips. When removed,
support the rail to avoid damaging Its
components. The fuel injectors are
serviced as complete assemblies only.
Since they are electrical components, they
should not be immersed in any cleaner.
Disassemble
Injector o-ring seal from spray tip end of each
injector. Discard seals.

Lubricate new injector o-ring seal and Install on
spray tip end of each Injector.

1. Fuel rail assembly in intake manifold.
Tilt rail assembly to Install Injectors.
2. Fuel rail attaching bolts.

• Attaching bolts to 25 N-m (19 lb. ft.)
3. injector electrical connectors.
4. Vacuum line to pressure regulator.
5. New fuel Inlet and return line o-rings on fuel feed
and return lines.
6. Fuel feed and return lines to appropriate ports in
fuel block.

T i g h t e n
• Fittings to 10 N-m (88 lb. in.). (Use back-up
wrench on inlet and outlet fittings to prevent
them from turning).
7. New o-ring seal on cold start tube.
8. Cold start valve line at fuel rail fitting.

I n s p e c t
• Energize fuel pump and check for leaks.
9. Plenum, following previously described
instructions.
