Each Array module (RBOD) contains 12 SATA hard drives (3TB each) and
provides a usable capacity of 15TB. Up to two Array modules can exist in
the base rack.
Every module supports RAID 6 with five global hot spares per tray (see
Figure
11).
Array modules — RAID set characteristics:
• The first five drives in each Array module (Drives 1 through 5) are
the global hot spares for that enclosure and for Expansion modules
attached to the Array.
• The remaining hard drives in each Array module (Drives 6 through
12) are configured into a RAID 6 set (5 + 2).

Each Expansion module (EXP-MOD) contains 16 SATA hard drives and
provides a usable capacity of 10TB (with 1TB drives) or 20TB (with 2TB
drives). When using 1TB Array module drives, from 1 to 10 Expansion
modules can be added to an expansion rack. When using 2TB Array
module drives, from 1 to 6 Expansion modules can be added to an
expansion rack. Every Expansion module supports RAID 6 with two hot
spares per tray (see
