Selecting the Exposure Mode

You can set the exposure mode used for observation or capturing. The procedure is
as follows.

In shooting mode, press the [MENU]
button to display the [Shooting menu]
screen.

Select [Exposure mode], and then press
the [OK] (or right) button.
The [Exposure mode] screen appears.

Select one of the following three
exposure modes:
 Prog. AE (initial setting)
The P-400R automatically sets both the
shutter speed and the camera gain.
 Shutter-priority AE
The P-400R automatically sets the
camera gain according to the shutter
speed set by the user.
 Manual
The user manually sets both the shutter
speed and the camera gain.

Press the [OK] (or right) button to apply
the selection.
The [Shooting menu] screen appears
again.
About overexposure and underexposure indications
If exposure mode is Program AE or Shutter-priority AE, depending on the
brightness of the object, the correct exposure might not be obtained. If the object
is overexposed, either P OVER (in Program AE mode) or S OVER (in
Shutter-priority AE mode) is displayed. If the object is underexposed, P UNDER
(in Program AE mode) or S UNDER (in Shutter-priority AE mode) is displayed.
