• Placing the DIC prism in the optical path
Push in the slider to the second click-stop position to place the DIC prism in the optical
path.
• Removing the DIC prism from the optical path
Pull out the slider to the first click-stop position to remove the DIC prism from the optical
path.

3.13.3 Selecting the DIC prism position

According to the objective in use, select either A or B as the position of the DIC prism. The
correct position to be used is indicated on the objective barrel after the magnification and
the objective N.A. indications. See the objective figure below. The letter "A" on the barrel
indicates that the correct DIC prism position for this objective is "A". Thus, when you use
this objective, turn the prism selection knob on the DIC slider to match the letter "A" with the
white dot.

3.13.4 Setting the interference color

Turn the prism movement knob to change the interference colors.
Interference color
Dark
Gray
Sensitive red-violet

Observation similar to the dark-field microscopy can be
performed.
The changes in phase difference are shown as the difference
in brightness. This color gives the highest sensitivity in
detecting the phase difference.
The changes in phase difference are shown as a difference
in interference colors. The detection sensitivity is not good as
the gray.
