Replacing bearing shells

Housing halves separated.

Removing bearing shells

Support bearing seat with tubular spacer,
D = 36 mm (1.417 in) H = 30 mm (1.181 in).
Using mandrel, BMW No. 11 7 621, and working
from the outside, press out the bearing shells.

Installing bearing shells

Note correct installed position.

Caution:
Lube-oil bore in housing must be aligned with bore
in bearing shell - use a colored marker to mark.

Note:
Secure bearing shells with O-ring (arrow) so they
cannot fall off.
Coat outside.

from the outside, press in the bearing shells, until
seated.
Operating fluids:
Bearing shells ...................Klüber paste 46 MR 401
Installed dimension:
Offset from oil bore ............... max. 0.5 mm (0.02 in)
