STEERING HEAD AND HANDLEBAR -1
INSTALLATION
Reverse the removal procedure.
Note the following points.
Hold the steering stem until it is secured.
1. Lubricate:
Bearing races
??
Lithium-Soap Base
2. Install:
Bearing (Lower) @
??
Onto the steering stem.
(Upper) @
Bearing cover @
??
Ring nut (Lower) @
??
3. Tighten:
Ring nuts (Lower/Upper)
??
Ring nuts tightening steps:
NOTE:
Set the Torque Wrench to the Ring Nut
Wrench so that they form a right angle.
Install the ring nut (Lower) @ .
??
NOTE:
The tapered side of ring nut must face down-
ward.
??
Tighten the ring nut @ using the Ring Nut
Wrench.
Ring Nut Wrench:
P/N Y U-33975
Ring Nut 0 (Initial Tightening):
52 Nm (5.2 ma kg, 37 ft. lb)
THE RING NUT @ COMPLETE-
LY and retighten it to specification.
Do not over-tightening.
Ring Nut @ (Final Tightening):
3 Nm (0.3 m-kg, 2.2 ft. lb)
