Solution
Make certain the diskette you are trying to
format is IBM-compatible. If it is, try
reformatting it. If it is not, replace it with an
IBM-compatible diskette
Run ScanDisk on the disk. If errors are
detected and corrected, try accessing the
diskette again.
Make certain the write-protection window on
the upper-right corner of the diskette is closed
(unprotected).
Solution
Remove the diskette from the drive. If the light
remains on, try restarting the system.
Open the system and check the cable between
the diskette drive and its controller. Make
certain the pins are not bent or misaligned.
Solution
Check the address configuration of the adapter
card and ensure that it does not conflict with
another card in the system.
Configure the card with the appropriate
software.
Reseat the card and make certain that its
jumpers are configured appropriately.
