Symptom
Abnormal noise is gener-
ated by the cutter during
cutting.
The "NO MEDIA" error
message is displayed dur-
ing a cutting/plotting oper-
ation and operation is
halted (CE5000-60/120
only).

The Cutting Results Are Unsatisfactory

Symptom
The cut corners are too
rounded or too pointed.
The medium curls up at the
corners.
Only the initial section cut is
satisfactory.
The cutter blade does not
completely cut lines that
should be solid (blade skips).
Solid lines are not cut at a con-
stant depth (mild skipping).
Curved lines have coarse res-
olution.
Characters or complex figures
are deformed.
Cause
The cutter plunger tip is in contact with
the medium.
"Paper End" was detected erroneously.
Cause
The cutter offset does not match
the blade type used.
The blade offset angle is too
small.
The blade is extended too far.
The cutter offset does not match

The cutting speed is too high.
The blade is dull.
The cutter blade is not rotating
smoothly in the holder.
The offset force is insufficient.

Solution
Adjust the cutter-blade extension (see
"2.5 Adjusting and Mounting the Cutter
Pen"). Reduce the cutting force (see "3.3
Setting the Cutter-Pen Conditions").
Press the "ENTER" key to continue
cutting/plotting and to disable any sub-
sequent "Paper End" detection.
To enable subsequent "Paper End"
detection, lower the media set lever
and perform a feed operation.
Solution
Adjust the cutter offset value (see "3.3
Setting the Cutter-Pen Conditions").
Corners are rounded: Increase the value.
Corners are pointed: Reduce the value.
Increase the offset angle (see "4.24 Set-
ting the OFFSET ANGLE").
Adjust the blade extension length (see
"2.5 Adjusting and Mounting the Cutter
Pen").
Adjust the offset (see "3.3 Setting the Cut-
ter-Pen Conditions").
Reduce the cutting speed (see "3.3 Set-
ting the Cutter-Pen Conditions").
Replace the cutter blade (see "2.5 Adjust-
ing and Mounting the Cutter Pen").
Clean inside the holder.
Increase the offset force (see "4.23 Set-
ting the OFFSET FORCE").
Replace the blade with a spring
attached.
Adjust the blade extension length (see
"2.5 Adjusting and Mounting the Cutter
Pen").
Reduce the cutting speed (see "3.3 Set-
ting the Cutter-Pen Conditions").
Correct so that the application data is
output with greater detail.
Increase the offset angle (see "4.24 Set-
ting the OFFSET ANGLE").
Reduce the step-pass setting (see "4.25
