Choice 5 - Resetting a Message Waiting Indicator
The System Administrator can reset the message-waiting indicator (MWI) for a
mailbox. When this option is selected the system checks the current status of any
messages stored in the mailbox. The system then dials the appropriate MWI ʺturn
onʺ code if there are new messages in the mailbox, and the appropriate MWI ʺturn
offʺ if there are no new messages in the mailbox. This operation will re-synchronize
the physical MWI indicator with the mailbox message status.
To reset an MWI, perform the following steps:
1. Access the System Administratorʹs Mailbox as described on page 6-1. The
Administrator's Options Menu now plays
2. Dial 2 for Mailbox Administration. You will be prompted to enter the mailbox
number you want to work with. This will be the mailbox for which you need to
reset the MWI indicator. For example, to reset the MWI for Mailbox 30, press
30.
3. At the next prompt, Press 5 to Reset an MWI. The system will announce: "Your
request has been processed". The correct ON or OFF code will be sent to the PBX
for action on the extension associated with the mailbox. You will then be
returned to the Administrator's Options Menu.
4. You may now:
a. Press 1-9 ..... to select another System Administrator task to perform
b. Press *........... to return to the system Main CCR Menu
c. Press **....... to exit the system completely

Using this option, you can easily change the greeting a caller will hear on a given
port between the programmed Day/Nite greeting and the programmed Temporary
greeting. This is very useful when a Temporary Greeting for something like a
weather-related closing needs to be activated from a remote location.
