Emerald ICE Cordless Phone Set User Guide LED Flash Cadences The user can use the above programming function keys to set up 3 different LED flash cadences as follows: 1. Normal Operation: LED Flashes [Normally]: 500ms on, 500ms off, repeatedly. In Nor‐ mal mode, the user can make/receive a call by the Handset unit through the base unit. 2. Base In Transition Mode: LED Flash [Slowly]: 1000ms on, 1000ms off, repeatedly. In the Transition mode, the user changes the DIP switches status. The system will wait for 5 seconds to ensure correct operation. 3. Base In Register/De‐Register Mode: LED Flash [Fast]: 125ms on, 125ms off, repeatedly. After a user changes DIP switches status for 5 seconds, the base enters the register and/ or de‐register mode. The user can register/de‐register the Handset to the base. Both Registration and De‐Registration must be performed within the 20‐second window in which the LED flashes in Fast mode. Basic Handset Operation Using the Speakerphone The Emerald ICE Cordless EKT Handsets are all equipped with a high‐quality, half‐duplex speakerphone. This feature makes it possible to place hands‐free calls. The Speakerphone is disabled when Headset Mode is enabled. A Speakerphone activation button is located on the right side of the Handset, as shown below. When using the speakerphone, HANDSFREE MODE will appear on the top line of the Handset display. Placing a Call Speaker Button 1. Press the Speaker button on the right side of the Handset or the Talk button on the front of the Handset. You will hear a dial tone. 2. Basic Handset Operation Using a Headset The Deluxe Telephone has a standard 2.5 millimeter headset jack. When Headset Mode is selected the Speaker button is used to activate/deactivate the headset. You can assign a Feature Button with the Headset feature code and use the button to turn the headset on and off. While using the headset, you can pick up Intercom Voice calls by pressing the Speaker but‐ ton on the side of the Handset. Incoming CO line calls can be answered by pressing the Speaker button on the side of the Handset or by pressing the specific CO line button. Features like background music and muted ring continue to operate in the same manner while you are on‐hook. Pressing the Talk button will disconnect calls when Headset Mode is active. Emerald ICE Cordless Telephone Set User Guide Status Indications The Emerald ICE Cordless Telephone Set provides you with RF Link status and Battery Power status indications. NOTE: All new information about RF and Battery status will be displayed on Row 1 of the LCD. Low Battery Power Status The Handset will display a battery power status icon on the upper right corner of the LCD. If the battery power is too low to work, the unit will also display LOW BATTERY before the battery is out of power completely. If the Handset is not in the standby mode, the icon would be flashing at the cadence of 0.5 sec, on‐and‐off repeatedly when the battery power is too low. However, it will not flash when in a low battery condition or in standby mode. If the Handset is in the talk mode, the unit will also generate a warning beep for 15 seconds.
Status Indications No Link to Base Status If the Handset is at an extended distance away from the Base Unit or the power of the Base Unit is removed for 30 seconds, the Handset will display NO LINK TO BASE to indicate that the Handset cannot link with the Base Unit. Rows 2 and 3 of the LCD display will not receive information from the Base Unit and appear blank on the display. It is recommended that you follow the procedures in “Registration Programming” on page 6‐6 to Register the Handset to verify the registration status. Ring and Vibrator Status If you are in Ring mode only, a Ring icon (bell) will appear on the display. If you select Vibrator mode only, (( )) will appear on the display. Feature Programming Audible Help The Audible Help feature is available to assist you with operating instructions for most Emerald ICE features. The same feature code is used to Save a Dialed Number (SDN) and to dial the saved number – Saved Number Redial (SNR). Emerald ICE Cordless Telephone Set User Guide Call Forwarding There are several choices for forwarding your calls: •Direct – Forward all of your calls, •Busy – Forward your calls when your telephone is busy. •Follow Me – Forward calls at your extension to the extension where you are currently working (conference room, associate’s office, etc.) •Follow Preset – Invoke call forward at your extension so that it can be changed from another extension. •No Answer – Forward your calls for no answer conditions. •External – Forward transferred CO line calls that ring at your extension to a different external telephone number. This feature must be enabled for your extension in data‐ base administration Forward conditions can be set as follows for each call forward type: •Intercom calls only. •Intercom and outside line (including transferred outside lines) calls. •Outside line (CO Line) calls only. Feature Programming Supervised/Unsupervised Conference The Emerald ICE system can accommodate eight, 4‐party conferences simultaneously. Con‐ ferences can include a maximum of 3 outside lines or up to 4 extensions. One telephone sta‐ tion acts as the conference manager and counts as one conference member. Supervised/Unsupervised A Supervised Conference is a conference whereby at least one member is an extension of the Emerald ICE system. The Emerald ICE extension that establishes a conference becomes the conference manager and can add and/or delete members of the conference at any time. The conference manager also is authorized to establish an Unsupervised Conference. An Unsuper‐ vised Conference is a conference where all members are on outside lines. (1‐Extension, 2‐Out‐ side maximum) Program Line/Feature Button Before setting up conferences you must first program a Feature/Line button as a conference button. Follow the procedures described in “Programming the Feature/Line Buttons” on Func page 2‐6 using the Program Code. Establish a Three‐party Conference 1. Answer or place the first call (internal or external). Press 3. Place the second internal or external call. 4. Press the Feature/Line button that your programmed to join the connections together. 5. Re‐establish the conference with all members by pressing the Feature/Line button that you programmed or hang up on the current connection and rejoin the remaining mem‐ h ber(s) by pressing . 6. Hang up to end the conference/connection. The conference manager is the extension that establishes a conference. Only the manager can add new parties. Only the conference manager is allowed to release any attending party. While speaking privately with a conference member other members of the conference will be connected to Music On Hold. When the conference manager exits a conference, the last internal number that joined the conference will be the new conference manager. Feature Programming Extension Ring Adjustment You can choose one of eight Extension Ring Adjustment for your extension to differentiate your ringing tone from others. Func #7 1. The Handset Unit must be moved to a position near the Base Unit to receive a de‐registra‐ tion command. After de‐registration, the Handset will not link with the base.
