Configuring the server

The ServerGuide program provides software-setup tools and installation tools that
are designed for the server. Use this CD during the installation of the server to
configure basic hardware features, such as an integrated SAS/SATA ServeRAID
adapter with RAID capabilities, and to simplify the installation of your operating
system. For information about using this CD, see "Using the ServerGuide Setup
and Installation CD" on page 269.
In addition to the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD, you can use the following
configuration programs to customize the server hardware:
v Setup utility
v Boot Manager program
v integrated management module II
v Ethernet controller configuration
v IBM Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) program
v LSI Configuration Utility program

The Setup utility is part of the basic input/output system firmware. Use it to
change the startup-device sequence, set the date and time, and set passwords.
For information about using this program, see "Using the Setup utility" on page
271.
The Boot Manager program is part of the server firmware. Use it to override the
startup sequence that is set in the Setup utility and temporarily assign a device to
be first in the startup sequence. For more information about using this program,
see "Using the Boot Manager program" on page 275.
Note: OPROM configuration utility is only available for emulex 10G card.
Use the integrated management module II (IMM2) for configuration, to update the
firmware and sensor data record/field replaceable unit (SDR/FRU) data, and to
remotely manage a system. For information about using these programs, see
"Using the integrated management module II (IMM2)" on page 275.
For information about configuring the Ethernet controller, see "Configuring the
Gigabit Ethernet controller" on page 281.
Use this program as an alternative to the Setup utility for modifying UEFI
settings. Use the ASU program online or out of band to modify UEFI settings
from the command line without the need to restart the server to access the Setup
utility. For more information about using this program, see "IBM Advanced
Settings Utility program" on page 285.
Use the LSI Configuration Utility program to configure the integrated SATA
ServeRAID adapter with RAID capabilities and the devices that are attached to it.
For information about using this program, see "Using the LSI Configuration Utility
program" on page 282.
The following table lists the different server configurations and the applications
that are available for configuring and managing RAID arrays.
