Preparations

The following items are required in order to use the E-mail feature.
Item Description
TCP/IP The TCP/IP
address address for the
machine.
TCP/IP is used
for e-mail.
Subnet mask Required when
the network is
divided into
subnets.
Gateway Required when
address multiple
networks are
connected by
gateways.
Administrator Set the E-mail
E-mail address for the
address machine
administrator.
Machine E- Used as a
mail address sender
address when
the machine
sends E-mail.
DNS server Required when
address the addresses
for a POP3
server and a
SMTP server
are set with a
domain name
format instead
of their IP
addresses.
SMTP server The machine
address uses a SMTP
server to send
E-mail. The
SMTP server
can also be
used for
receiving E-
mail.
