(1) SSB
RECEIVING
1) Set controls and switches as described on p. 19.
2) Push [POWER]
IN.
3) Select the desired operating band.

4) Push [SSB] to select SSB mode.
e USB is automatically selected on bands above 10 MHz.
LSB is automatically selected on bands below 7 MHz.
e Push [SSB] again to select the opposite side of the side
band.
5) Adjust [AF] as desired.
6) Adjust [SOL], if needed.
7) Rotate the main dial to receive a signal.
8) Use the controls and switches described on pgs. 21 and
22 for better receiving.

4) Speak naturally into the microphone.
e When you transmit a signal, the meter needle moves.
5) Adjust [RF PWR] for the desired output power.
6) Set [METER]
to the [ALC] position.
7) Adjust [MIC].

To adjust the transmit bandwidth on the Icom IC-765, you can select between LSB and USB modes depending on the frequency band:

- USB is automatically selected on bands above 10 MHz.
- LSB is automatically selected on bands below 7 MHz.
- Push the [SSB] button again to switch between USB and LSB.

The SSB selectivity (bandwidth) is fixed at 2.2 kHz at –6 dB. There is no direct control to manually change the transmit bandwidth beyond selecting USB or LSB.
