5 PRE-OPERATION
refer to this section while you are receiving.

- OFF position:
Used when receiving a very weak signal.
- FAST position:
Normally
used when
receiving a signal in CW and
RTTY modes.
- SLOW position:
Normally used when receiving a signal in SSB or AM
modes.

SWITCH
[PRE] position:
Use when
receiving weak signals.
Set the switch to
the
[PRE]
position,
the
built-in
preamp
(approx.
10 dB) is activated to improve the S/N ratio and
sensitivity.
Especially useful during DX operation.
{10dB] [20dB] [30dB] positions:
Used when the received sound from the speaker is dis-
torted by very strong signals.
Set the switch to these
positions to activate the 10, 20, or 30 dB attenuator.
RX
TONE
CONTROL
Changes the audio output quality from the speaker.
