14. Battery replacement

Only specialists may replace the batteries.

Do not touch electronics/components; do not allow them to come into

contact with oil, paint, moisture, alkali or acids.
Only use batteries approved by SimonsVoss.

The batteries used may pose a fire or burn hazard if handled incorrectly.

Do not recharge, open, heat or burn these batteries. Do not short-circuit!
Dispose of old or used batteries correctly. Store out of children's reach.

Check the polarity of the batteries.

The batteries will have discharged to roughly the same level. That is

why you must replace all batteries.
Do not touch the contacts on the new batteries with your hands when

replacing the old ones. Use cotton gloves free of fat or grease.
When replacing the batteries, make sure that no pressure is applied to

the electronics or that they are not damaged in any other way.
The batteries are located under the cover of the SmartHandle AX. You will
need the SimonsVoss installation tool to change the batteries.
1. Place the SimonsVoss installation tool in the recesses provided in the
cover. These are located on the side facing away from the electronics.
2. Push the SimonsVoss mounting tool into the recesses until the cover
pops out.
3. Pull the cover downwards until it clicks loose.
4. Remove the cover.
