Inspection and Cleaning

INSULATOR
Inspect the spark plugs. If the
electrodes are heavily corroded or
carbon-soiled, clean with a wire
brush.
Measure the plug gaps with a
wire-type feeler gauge. The gaps
should be 1.0 – 1.1 mm (0.039 –
0.043 in). Correct as necessary by
carefully bending the side
electrode.

LUBRICATION

Wipe the outside of the engine
with a cloth dipped in clean oil.
Apply marine anticorrosion grease

to the following parts:
Lubrication interval:
20 hours or a month after the date
of purchase for initial lubrication,
then every 100 hours or 6 months.
NOTE:
• Apply anticorrosion oil to pivot
surfaces where grease cannot
penetrate.
• Lubricate more frequently when
used in salt water.
