11. CLEANING AND FLUSHING

After each use in salt water or
dirty water, thoroughly clean and
flush the outboard motor with
fresh water.
NOTICE
• Do not apply water or
corrosion inhibitor directly to
the electrical components
under the engine cover, such
as the AC generator, O
sensor, or the AC generator
belt. If water or corrosion
inhibitor penetrates these
components, they may be
damaged. Before applying a
corrosion inhibitor, cover the
AC generator, belt and O
sensor with a protective
material to prevent damage.
Shut off the engine before
performing the cleaning and
flushing.
AIR INTAKES

1. Tilt down the outboard motor.
2. Clean and wash the outside of
the outboard motor with fresh
water.
Cleaning of the outside of the
outboard motor should be
performed with the engine
2
cover installed.
NOTICE
EXHAUST PORT
• Be careful not to spray water
into the air intakes and the
exhaust port. If water
penetrates inside the engine
cover from the air intakes and
the exhaust port, it may cause
malfunction.
FLUSH PLUG CONNECTOR
3. Remove the flush plug
connector from the outboard
motor.
4. Install the water hose joint
(commercially available).
