Introduction

This chapter is divided into four sections:
• The first section deals with the installation of software on your development
computer to create and transfer MIL/MIL-Lite applications to your
Matrox Iris GT. It also deals with the installation of software on your
Matrox Iris GT to run the applications.
• The second section deals with creating MIL/MIL-Lite applications, and
transferring these applications from the development computer to your smart
camera.
• The third section explains how to debug your applications remotely.
• The fourth section explains how to automatically launch your applications.
Installing software needed to create and run
MIL applications
This section discusses the installation of software required to create MIL/MIL-Lite
applications and run them on your smart camera.

On your development computer

The following software programs must be installed on your development
computer prior to creating applications:
• Install Microsoft Visual Studio. To write and debug applications, install the
Microsoft Visual Studio development environment on your development
computer. Refer to the documentation accompanying this product for detailed
installation procedures.
• Install MIL/MIL-Lite. To develop MIL or MIL-Lite applications, install
MIL/MIL-Lite on your development computer. Refer to the documentation
accompanying MIL and MIL-Lite for a description of the installation procedure.
After installation, refer to the MIL online help to determine where the MIL files
are located, as well as how to compile and run the MIL/MIL-Lite examples.
