ACPI technology

Logging off Matrox Iris GT

There are three different methods by which you can log off of your
Matrox Iris GT:
• Manually log off. On the Matrox Iris GT, you can log off Windows XPe using
the Log off button, available from the Windows Start menu. Once logged off,
the smart camera will automatically go to the log-in screen and wait for a new user
to log in.
• Use the Matrox XP Configuration (XPConfig) utility to log off automatically.
You can use the command-line options in the XPConfig utility to log off your
smart camera. For more information, refer to the Software log off section, earlier
in this chapter.
• Use ACPI technology to log off automatically. Matrox Iris GT is compliant with
advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI) technology. This technology
specifies how the BIOS, operating system, and peripheral devices communicate
with each other about power usage. For more information, refer to. ACPI allows
your Matrox Iris GT to conserve energy by transitioning unused devices into lower
power states.
Updating the BIOS using the AMI Firmware
Update utility
If necessary, you can update the BIOS using the AMI Firmware Update utility,
accessible from the Program Files menu of the Windows Start menu.
The AMI Firmware Update utility can update or save the system BIOS of
Matrox Iris GT. This utility can reprogram the BIOS of Matrox Iris GT using a
BIOS image file, or extract the current BIOS image and write it to a file. In
addition, the AMI Firmware Update utility can also export the current custom
and default BIOS setup values to a file or import the custom and default BIOS
setup values from a file.
Refer to Appendix I: Using the AMI Firmware Update utility for more information.
