Creating and using a rescue USB flash drive

To restore the contents of your flash disk to the factory-default configuration using
a USB flash drive, perform the following:
1. Connect your USB 2.0 compatible USB flash drive to a USB port of a
development computer running Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Note that
your USB flash drive must have at least 2 Gbytes of memory.
2. Put the Matrox Iris GT Windows XPe Rescue utility DVD into the DVD drive
of your development computer.
3. Run the batch file CreateUsbResQ.bat located in the \USB folder of the
Matrox Iris GT Windows XPe Rescue utility DVD.
4. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port of your Matrox Iris GT smart camera.
5. Configure the BIOS Setup utility so that your computer will boot from the USB
flash drive containing the factory default Windows XPe configuration. To do so:
a. Press F11 during POST to access the Boot-Device Selection utility included in
the Matrox Iris GT BIOS.
b. Using the Up or Down key to move the highlighting bar, select the USB Drive
option, and press Enter.
6. Exit the BIOS Setup utility and reboot your Matrox Iris GT.
The utility on your USB flash drive will run, restoring your Matrox Iris GT to its
factory-configured defaults. The utility will prompt you when its operations are
complete.
Now, your Matrox Iris GT smart camera is restored to your factory default
Windows XPe configuration. See Chapter 3: Matrox Iris GT with Windows XPe
for more information on using your Matrox Iris GT smart camera running
Windows XPe.
