14 Chapter 1: Before you begin

Documentation conventions

Your Matrox GatorEye is a network-aware device. The terminology used
throughout this document mirrors that of local area networks (LANs).
In this document, any computer that can communicate with your Matrox
GatorEye is referred to as "your computer". If you use your computer to develop
your applications for your Matrox GatorEye, it is referred to as your development
computer.
References to the submenu items of the Windows Start menu refer to the folders
listed beneath the All programs menu of Microsoft Windows.
The procedure to select a menu command from a submenu uses a simplified
format. For example, the following procedure:
Select the Edit menu command from the main menu, and then select the
Copy menu command from the presented submenu.
will be replaced by:
Select the Edit Copy menu command.
Throughout this manual, every mention of MIL/MIL-Lite refers to version 9.0
or higher.
