Powering and controlling a LED lighting
device with controlled-current output
You can power and control a LED lighting device with the controlled-current
output of your Matrox GatorEye. Note, to connect to a lighting controller, see the
Connecting to a lighting controller subsection of the Connecting external devices to
auxiliary output lines section, earlier in this appendix.
❖ Unlike the auxiliary output lines, the Matrox GatorEye controlled-current output
(CCS) sources the current for a LED lighting device. Matrox GatorEye allows you
to control the amount of current (mA) that is transmitted when the
controlled-current output is enabled (ON), allowing you to control the intensity
of the LED lighting device. Matrox GatorEye can provide up to 500 mA of
current. Refer to the documentation that came with your LED lighting device to
find the recommended amount of current to send. Note that this feature is not
available if using power over Ethernet (PoE).
To control your LED lighting device using the Matrox GatorEye
GenICam-extension features, refer to the Lighting subsection of the Matrox
GatorEye GenICam-extension features section, in Chapter 4: Matrox GatorEye
feature reference.
Connect your Matrox GatorEye controlled-current output directly to the LED
lighting device's positive wire terminal (+). Connect the ground of your Matrox
GatorEye and the ground of the LED lighting device to a common ground.
