Powering and connecting to your Matrox
GatorEye
Matrox GatorEye has the following interfaces:
• Digital I/O and power connector. Used to receive power from an external power
source (if not using power-over-Ethernet). The connector can also send/receive
RS-232 (input/output), trigger (input), strobe (output), controlled-current
output, and user-defined I/O signals to/from third-party I/O devices, over
auxiliary lines.
• 100/1G BaseT connector. Provides connectivity between your Matrox GatorEye
and your computer or your network. Matrox GatorEye can gain access to a LAN
via Gbit Ethernet (GigE, 1G BaseT, or 1000BaseT), fast Ethernet (100BaseT), or
twisted pair Ethernet (10BaseT). The connector can also be used to power your
Matrox GatorEye from the Ethernet cable, using power-over-Ethernet (PoE). If
powering your Matrox GatorEye using power-over-Ethernet (PoE), your Matrox
GatorEye is a 802.3af compliant device using a Class 0 signature.
❖ Note that PoE requires that your network include some type of power sourcing
equipment.
