This manual uses the term Matrox GatorEye to refer to all members of the Matrox
GatorEye family. When necessary, this manual distinguishes between the different
Matrox GatorEye cameras using their full names.
Matrox GatorEye can communicate with other devices through the Ethernet
(100/1000 BaseT), RS-232 serial port, and auxiliary digital I/O lines.
Matrox GatorEye features
Matrox GatorEye offers the following camera-specific features:
• Camera description file. Matrox GatorEye uses a camera description file for
configuration. The camera description file follows the GenICam-standard naming
convention for machine vision (industrial) cameras.
• Color formats. Matrox GatorEye GE300C, GE1200C, and GE1900C grab
images using a Bayer color filter, and transmit them in a Bayer pattern, BGRa
packed (8 bits per band), YUV 4:2:2 packed (YUYV or UYVY), or mono 8.
• Laser range control. Supports on-board laser line extraction. It can establish depth
(an uncorrected depth map) and surface information for an object in a scene, from
multiple 2D images of laser lines taken from a laser line profile setup (that is,
laser-based 3D reconstruction setup).
• Quadrature decoder. Features a quadrature decoder that can decode input from
a rotary encoder with quadrature output.
• Auxiliary, multi-purpose lines. Supports a total of 8 auxiliary lines (4 input lines
and 4 output lines) on which a variety of signals can be routed (for example, a
user-defined output, timer-clock input, or exposure output signal).
• Dedicated trigger input line. Supports one opto-isolated trigger input line. The
opto-isolation is provided using a high-speed opto-isolator.
