d. CONTINUOUS SONICS
Mode Settings
This mode is used for continuous cutting, continuous welding, bonding, sewing, quilting,
or continuous sealing.
In
CONTINUOUS SONICS
mode, maximum/minimum power limits are the only available
settings. However, please note that operating the unit above 80% of its rated power
results in a MAX POWER EXCEEDED alarm.
CONTINUOUS
SONICS
mode is set with DIP switch S1 (position 6) in the unit. Refer to
Section 3 for important information on setting DIP switch Sl. After setting the DIP switch,
closing PB1 turns ultrasonic power on.
No
SOLENOID 'VALVE
output is provided in this mode.
To exit
CONTINUOUS SONICS
mode, press any
MODE
or the
RECALL
key. Re-enter
CONTINUOUS
SONICS
mode by powering down the power supply or activating the
EMERGENCY STOP.
e. HANDGUN
Mode Settings
In this mode, an operator positions a hand-held gun against the material. The operator
supplies the force instead of a cylinder-driven actuator. A switch on the handgun triggers
the start of the weld cycle.
HANDGUN
mode is set with DIP switch S1 (position 7) in the unit. Refer to Section 3 for
important information on setting DIP switch Sl.
HANDGUN
mode can be used with
TIME, ENERGY
and
TEC
mode settings. All keys and
displays are functional in this mode. No
SOLENOID
vABTE output is provided in this mode.
f. Peak Power Mode Settings
Peak Power mode is set through the Setup menu, Limits/Power sub-menu.
When the Peak Power value is reached, the weld is terminated and ultrasonics is shut off.
Peak Power is used:
1. Separately or in conjunction with Peak Power Limits.
2. With all modes except Continuous Sonics.
3. To limit the maximum power produced during a weld cycle.
No error message is generated in Peak Power mode.
If you wish to receive an indication of reaching Peak Power, set the + Power Limit.
