1.3 900M features
900Ms provide the following features:
• A microprocessor-based programmer module to provide controls for setting the
parameters of the weld cycle and displaying cycle and alarm information.
• An alphanumeric status display to indicate weld cycle progress and warning of
problems encountered.
• A System Protection Monitor/Autotune (SPM/AT) to monitor and protect the system to
ensure maximum reliability. The SPM/AT will terminate ultrasonic energy if the system
is operated under adverse conditions.
• A 24 VDC connection on the back panel to connect to external controls and devices
for monitoring cycles and sorting suspect parts.
• Two data link connections to communicate with external Branson devices through the
Accessory Interface Module in the 900M.
• Self-diagnostics during startup to provide a status message on the
STATUS
Display.
• External communications through an optional External Communications Interface
device (ECI) to drive external devices such as printers, host computers, or modems.
1.4 Inputs
The 900M's functioning also depends on inputs and controls. These are switches, sensors,
and signals used to start and monitor the system through the weld cycle. Many of these
inputs and controls are discussed in detail in the relevant actuator manuals. Since they are
often referred to in subsequent sections, brief descriptions follow.
