Understanding and Resetting Alarms
Note: You must clear all alarms before modifying any weld settings.
Alarms occur when Weld cycle parameter limits are not met (due to part/cycle variations),
settings are set incorrectly, or hardware fails.
Alarms are classified as Latchable, Latching, Not-Latching or Non-Resettable.
• Latchable alarms are set from the Setup menus described in Section 4.4. These alarms
are displayed in the
STATUS
display and generate output signals on the back panel.
They can prevent the 900M from cycling, if you select ALARM TYPE = LATCHED in
the Setup menu. To clear, resolve the cause of the alarm issue, press
RESET
or activate
the
EXTERNAL RESET
signal, then start a weld cycle.
• Latching alarms prevent the 900M from cycling, even if you select ALARM TYPE =
NOT LATCHED in the Setup menu. To clear, resolve the cause of the alarm issue,
press
RESET
or activate the
EXTERNAL RESET
signal, then start a weld cycle.
• Not-Latching alarms generate output signals on the back panel but do not prevent the
900M from cycling. These alarms clear at the end of the weld cycle. You do not need
to clear non-latching alarms.
•
Non-Resettable alarms prevent the 900M from operating and are caused by hardware
failure. To clear, you must turn the 900M off, resolve the cause of the alarm issue, and
then turn the 900M back on before you can start the next weld cycle. These alarms
cannot be cleared by the
RESET
key or the
EXTERNAL RESET
signal.
Note:
EXTERNAL RESET
circuitry requires a minimum of 20 ms before ultrasonic power
becomes
READY.
