Commissioning
5.1
Commissioning the instrument
1. Switch power supply on.
 The fault relay is switched.
 The instrument will go through a start-up sequence
(LCD / LED test, software version, and initialization)
and start the warm-up period.
The maintenance signal on the 4-20 mA interface
remains pending until the sensor is warmed-up.
 The display shows that the sensor will be ready for
measurement in hh:mm:ss (countdown) and the
instrument transmits the maintenance signal.
 After the countdown, the instrument goes into normal
operation. The display shows the currently detected
signal, UGLD (ultrasonic gas leak detection) and the
units of measurement. The green LED is lit.
2. Check date and time.
3. Perform bump test.
5.2
Commissioning service
After the system is installed, it is recommended to schedule a
system commissioning service through DrägerService.
A commissioning service ensures that customer required leak
rate at each potential leak location will be detected by the
corresponding instrument. The instrument shall not be
operated permanently with a background signal above
100 dB. However, permanent high signal above 100 dB does
not harm the device.
A commissioning device simulates a real gas leak in a short
burst and is proof for proper installation. A calibration of the
instrument is not necessary.

1) The value changes according to the background noise emitted by
machinery or personnel. Thus a changing value does not immediately
indicate a leak. To prevent misinterpretation from personnel, the dis-
play can be switched off.
6.1.2 Special states
If the instrument is in a special state, a proper measurement
can no longer be guaranteed.
This is the case:
– When the ultrasonic signal exceeds the measuring range.
– When a fault occurs.

Fault / warning indication
Faults and warnings are non-latching. If the fault or warning
condition clears, the message disappears.
To solve warning and fault conditions, display the error code
or warning message (see "Displaying Information", page 14)
and begin troubleshooting (see "Troubleshooting", page 16).
